Society of Actuaries Research Institute Announces Participation in the Department of Commerce Consortium Dedicated to AI Safety

On February 8, 2024 in Chicago, IL the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute unveiled their plans to contribute their expertise as a part of an initiative launched by the Department of Commerce aimed at promoting trustworthy and secure artificial intelligence. This consortium called U.S AI Safety Institute Consortium (AISIC), created by the National Institute for Standards and Technology(NIST), will bring together more than two hundred experts in Artificial Intelligence creation and usage including academics, governmental researchers along with civil society organizations with one common goal- meeting this mission. As one among these members SOA’s research institute intends on optimizing its own proficiency concerning AI safety matters while also focusing on ethical aspects by contributing towards actuarial profession & insurance industry development initiatives through engagement within AISIC’s activities.
